Frequently asked questions
Does PlanProof replace estimator review?
No. PlanProof automates the first pass and exposes uncertainty so review becomes faster and more focused. Lines that are safe to bid stay quiet; the few that deserve a second look are flagged with a plain-English reason before you price the job.
What happens when PlanProof can't prove a quantity?
It refuses to guess and states the precise reason — missing scale, missing schedules, unreadable sheets. When PlanProof can't prove a number, it says so instead of guessing; that's the whole point.
What if my plan set is missing electrical, plumbing, or HVAC route sheets?
That unsupported route scope is excluded from priced output rather than guessed, and the exclusion is reported so you know exactly what the takeoff does not cover.
What file formats does PlanProof accept?
Residential blueprint PDFs and AutoCAD DXF files. Each upload produces a complete material list where every quantity shows how it was measured.
Are my uploaded plans private?
Yes. Plans upload to private storage, all analysis runs on our servers, and your files are never shared. You control every export.
Is my data used for learning automatically?
No. Learning from corrections is governed by consent mode — customer corrections and benchmark participation require explicit consent before they enter any learning or evaluation workflow.
Can I get locally priced BOMs?
That is part of the V2 roadmap. The architecture is ready; live supplier coverage depends on allowed sources, partner feeds, uploaded sheets, or quote workflows.

How much does PlanProof cost?
Single-project passes run $299-$499 per plan set, owner-builder passes $199-$299 one-time, and builder subscriptions start at $499/mo. For comparison, a single outsourced takeoff typically costs $200-$500.
